Brunch with kids **La Tricoterie**

La Tricoterie is a socio-cultural initiative, a meeting place located in an incredible industrial building in the very south of Saint-Gilles, a few steps away from the South station.
They organize plenty of cultural, civic and well-being activities : concerts, conferences, debates, workshops, yoga classes,… and last but not least, a family-friendly brunch every Sunday between September and April

We went to one the last brunches of the previous season, so I waited until they got back to tell you about it ! And YES, they’re back next week.

Near the South station

Close to the Place Bethléem and its Greek restaurants, the area is not the most beautiful and touristic of Brussels, but it is not that far from the popular Parvis de Saint-Gilles and several little streets with art deco buildings.

An industrial atmosphere

La Tricoterie is located in a former pasta, then sofa factory – a huge industrial building : 1.200m2 divided in several rooms.

On Sundays, the main room full of families is quite chaotic, but somehow relaxing for the parents who are used to watch all their kids movements : the atmosphere is good-natured and your son spilling his apple juice on the plastic tablecloth is really no big deal.

The front rooms seem to be much quieter, and in the summer there is even a small terrace.

A kids-friendly brunch

During the Sunday brunch, families invade the main room with its space dedicated to the kids : les Minis-Tricoteurs. For 3€ your kids (preferably +2) have access to a little playground with a reading corner, colouring books, wooden toys… under the surveillance of 2 attendants.

Healthy and tasty

The brunch itself is, as you may have guessed, bio : artisanal breads, jams, houmous, seasonal vegetables soups,… simple but healthy and tasty. Oh, and the unconditional carnivores get their burger, too.

It was much tastier than it seems from this awful pic.

You’d better not be in a hurry, though. But the service is so cheerful… and it’s Sunday, right ?
